The Dawn
I can see it now - as it breaks
over the horizon, and I know
I'm free - it marks a new
day. A fresh start - a chance
at something real.
Clean-slate day, blue-sky day
A leave-it-for-tomorrow day,
when you just want to give in
To the temptations of a
lazy-day.
So sunrise is like a blessing
because the world starts over -
Not just me, everybody's fresh.
Early-bloomer, late-bloomer;
That kind of thing doesn't matter.
And I'm content knowing
If I ever want to turn back and go home
they'll wait for me, let me be
somebody more than a name
even if it takes me across the world.
